Tune-Up your Browser
It is very important that you use a browser that is validated by
WebCT and configured to work with WebCT. Follow the

- confirm that your browser is validated (URI currently uses
WebCT Campus Edition 4.1)
- set up your browser to enable java, javascript and cookies
- set up your browser to disable
any pop-up blocker*
It is also very important that your computer is free of virus,
adware and spyware. Check the
URI virus web site to use the anti-virus program licensed by
URI.
Tip - Various versions of Internet Explorer, Netscape, AOL and Mozilla work with WebCT. If you encounter problem with one browser
and you don't have time to fix the problem, just switch to another
browser. Most of the time, the other browser will work.
* Windows
XP Service Pack 2 Pop-up Blocker
WebCT uses pop-up technology to present materials. The Windows XP
service pack 2 by default block pop-up windows in Internet Explorer.
The following shows how to allow the WebCT pop-up windows in
Internet Explorer.
- In Internet Explorer, click on the Tools Menu
and select Pop-up Blocker, then Pop-up
Blocker Settings.
- In the "Address of Web site to allow" field, enter
webct.uri.edu and click the Add button.
Click on Close.
