Peer Mentors at CCE
Student Services
Room 125
401-277-5000

Who are we? Like you, we are adult students at CCE. We know what it’s like to begin college or to return to college while working, being a parent, and managing a home. It can be a challenging time – it can seem risky, frightening and wonderful, all at the same time. Sometimes it can be terrific and sometimes it can be very tough. We understand how classes and exams can cause anxiety, stress and self-doubt but there is help available.

Peer Mentors can help you with:

  • Help with Time Management and how to juggle all your life and course demands
  • Help in overcoming test anxiety
  • Help in navigating Sakai and E-Campus
  • Help in communicating with professors and classmates
  • Help in improving listening and note-taking skills.

We are trained as Peer Mentors to provide you with information and support to help ensure this will be one of the best times of your life. As Peer Mentors we will listen to you while sharing our experiences and expertise. We are here to support, encourage and offer help – ALL CONVERSATIONS ARE CONFIDENTIAL. There are three Peer Mentors to assist you:

Connie Pritchard Connie Pritchard: a May 2011 CCE URI Communications graduate who volunteers her time to give back to students and the CCE campus.
Mediana Casmir Mediana Casmir: a Sophomore: currently enrolled in the Interdisciplinary Studies Program while awaiting admission to the URI School of Nursing
Gail Harvey Gail Harvey: a Junior: a History and Woman’s Studies major; TA for WMS 150 class on the Kingston campus.

We are here to help you with whatever you need to succeed in your college goals. Stop by Student Services in Room 125 to see a Peer Mentor.
