Outlook Express:
- Start Outlook Express

On the Tools menu, click Accounts. If the Internet Connection Wizard starts up automatically, go to step 3.
- Click Add, and then click Mail to open the Internet Connection Wizard.

- On the Your Name page of the wizard, type your name as you want it to appear to everyone who gets e-mail from you, and then click Next. Most people use their full name, but you can use any name - even a nickname - that people will recognize.
- On the Internet Explorer Address page, type your e-mail address, and then click Next.
- On the E-mail Server Names page, fill in the first block of information that you gathered from your ISP in step 1, and then click Next.

- On the Internet Mail Logon page, type your account name and password.

Note: If you're concerned about break-ins to your e-mail, click to clear the check in the Remember Password box. You'll then be prompted for the password each time you send or retrieve mail.
- Click Next, and then click Finish.
MS Outlook 2003:
- On the Tools menu, click E-mail Accounts.

- Select Add a new e-mail account, and click Next.

- Select POP3 as the e-mail server used for your account, and click Next.

- In the appropriate boxes, type the information given to you.
-Set the Incoming mail (POP3 or IMAP) server to mail.uri.edu (or postoffice.uri.edu if you have a postoffice address).
-Set the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server to mail.uri.edu (or postoffice.uri.edu if you have a postoffice address).

- Click the More Settings button, go to the Connection tab of the new dialog box, make sure Connect using my local area network (LAN) button is selected and then click OK.

- Click Finish.
MS Outlook 2000:
- Open Outlook 2000.
- Click the Tools menu.
- Select Accounts

- Click the Add button
and then the Mail option.

- Enter the name you want to appear in the From: field when you send a message into the dialog box.
- Click Next.
- Enter your URI e-mail address.

- Select POP3 as the Incoming mail server type.
-Set the Incoming mail (POP3 or IMAP) server to mail.uri.edu (or postoffice.uri.edu if you have a postoffice address).
-Set the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server to mail.uri.edu (or postoffice.uri.edu if you have a postoffice address).
- Click Next

- Enter your URI e-mail account name (the part before the @ symbol in your e-mail address).
- Enter the password (it will display as ****s in the box).
- If you wish to make it so a password must be entered each time you check your e-mail, uncheck the Remember Password box.
- Make sure Ensure Secure Password Authentication is not checked.
- Click Next

- Select Connect using my local area network (LAN).
- Click Next.
- Click Finish.
