Clinics

Physical Therapy consumers have the opportunity to be seen in the Department's Faculty Clinic. The clinic is conveniently located on the University's Kingston Campus. Further information and appointment scheduling can be arranged by calling University Physical Therapy at (401) 874-2006.

Faculty Clinic

The Faculty Clinic is staffed by licensed academic and clinical faculty in the Physical Therapy Department. Our clinicians have advanced training in orthopedic and neurologic rehabilitation. Students are involved in the Faculty Clinic in both voluntary and formal classroom-related experiences.

The clinic provides services to the URI student body, faculty and staff, and members of the local community. University Physical Therapy participates with most insurances with the notable exceptions of Medicare and Medicaid. Patients need not be affiliated with the University; community members are eligible for consultation and treatment. Services include evaluation and treatment of various orthopedic and neurologic conditions, ergonomic work-station evaluations, work conditioning, return to sport programs, aquatic therapy, functional capacity evaluations, and assistive device assessments. University Physical Therapy is equipped with state-of-the-art rehabilitation tools, including but not limited to:SwimEx therapeutic swimming pool/water treadmill

  • Swim-Ex therapeutic swimming pool/water treadmill

  • Isotonic, free-weight and Isokinetic strengthening and testing devices
  • Work simulation equipment
  • EMG biofeedback
  • Cardiovascular equipment
  • Electrical, thermal and cryotheraputic modalities

  • Continuing Education Credits - Physical Therapy Presents: If You Can't Breathe, You Can't Function with Mary Massery, PT, DPT.  February 17th-19th, 2012.


  • The Physical Therapy Department at URI participates in the Physical Therapist Centralized Application Service (PTCAS). Applicants for the 2012 entering class can apply online using the PTCAS Web application, beginning on July 18, 2011. To learn more about the PTCAS application process, please visit www.ptcas.org.

  • The Annual Open House will be held on October 13, 2010 from 4-6pm in Independence Square.

 

  • Interviews for the Class of 2015 will be held on January 6 and 7, 2012.  Interviews are by invitation only.
