Graduate Student Association
The Graduate Student Association (GSA) is a government body maintained by and for the graduate students of the University with the purpose of enhancing the academic, intellectual, and social opportunities of its members. Officers and members of the GSA Senate, who are elected annually from the entire graduate student body, distribute GSA funds to graduate students and other qualifying groups, organize social events, and serve as graduate student representatives on University-wide committees.

Emergency Meeting Summary
The Board of Governor did not ratify our contract at their last meeting, and it won't go into effect until they do, so we need them to do so at the next meeting, which is this coming Monday, the 7th.
Our contract is unique compared to the other ones they are looking at because our funding does NOT come from the state. It comes from non-state allocated funding but it has ALREADY, including the amount needed to cover any raises, been paid to our departments.
If they do not ratify our contract on the 7th it will be held out until after everyone leaves, and thus we need everyone who is graduating to send their contact information (including address) to uri.gau@gmail.com just as a precaution.
Also, to show we are here and care, we want get as many GAU members as
we can at the board of governor's meeting on the 7th.
The meeting is
THIS Monday May 7th at 5:30pm
at CCRI in Warwick Room 4090
Our parent organization, the AAUP, rented a bus to go to the meeting. The bus will leave the Fine Arts parking lot at 4PM. The bus will return to campus no later than 9PM, or earlier if possible.
If you would like to take the bus, please email Mary Pinch at pinch@uri.edu or call her at the AAUP office at X4-2532 to reserve a seat.
