Granting Access to Third Party

Students now have the ability to grant access to whomever they want to view their Student Billing and/or Student Records, and/or Financial Aid information.

As a student and owner of your student information, you now have the ability to assign a guest access to e-campus to view your student information.

Who is a guest? A guest can be your mother, father, grandparent, sibling, employer, or other third party payer who asks for certain student information.

To grant access, log onto e-Campus with your Login ID and password. On your main menu there is a link to URI Student Services, click on that link, and then click on Grant Access to your Info.

The following three steps will be used to create a Login ID for your guest:

  • User Name: (ex: FirstName_LastName)
  • Password: (must be alpha numeric)
  • Email address (theirs not yours)

You will then decide what information will be made available, by clicking Y or N for Student Financials (Billing) Student Records, and/or Financial Aid. Once these steps are complete click SAVE. You must inform your guest of the password you set up for them. The person will receive an e-mail notifying them that they can log in on the next business day to view the information you have made accessible to them.

Please Note: You can add as many guests as you want. You also have the option of deleting them by clicking on the minus sign

Consent to Release Student Educational Records

Authorization for Third-Party Access to Student Records
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) prohibits an educational institution from releasing confidential, non-directory information about a student without the student's consent. Under FERPA, a school is permitted to provide access to third parties authorized by a student, but the school is not required to do so. The school is required only to provide students access to their own education records.

A student can authorize access for parents, guardians, or other family members by completing the Consent to Release Student Educational Records form (PDF) and submitting it to the Office of Enrollment Services, Green Hall, 35 Campus Avenue, Kingston RI 02881. The authorization remains in effect until the student cancels the authorization by written request.
