Accident/Sickness Insurance Fee Policy

The accident/sickness insurance fee of $ 1,292.00 per year is a mandatory fee that is assessed during the fall semester to all matriculated, full-time, Kingston-based students and to all international students. (Students enrolling full-time only for the spring semester will be assessed an insurance fee of $ 824.00). This fee may be waived under certain circumstances. Please visit the Health Services website at http://health.uri.edu to file an online waiver. For more information, please contact Health Services at (401) 874-4755.

Please note: If student insurance is purchased, the health service fee will also be assessed each semester regardless of enrollment.

Reassessment of Fees Policy

Tuition and fees are assessed according to enrollment, student status, residency, course level, and course sponsorship. Reassessment will occur at the end of the two-week add period and will adjust for enrollment changes processed during the add period. Enrollment changes made after the add period will not reduce term bills. If a student is anticipating a fee adjustment, he/she must complete all add/drop transactions by the reassessment deadline. This policy pertains to downward billing adjustments and would include the following:

  • Dropping of credit overload courses
  • Dropping from full-time to part-time status
  • Dropping of courses by a part-time student
  • Dropping of courses for which program fees or course fees have been assessed
