I am the coordinator of Fitness and Wellness at URI. I have one of the most amazing jobs, which is working with students and exercise participants of all ages on the university campus and community. I have a MS from Southern Connecticut State University in Human Performance, a BS from the University of Connecticut in Exercise Science and a minor in Sport Nutrition. I’m also nationally certified as a personal trainer, group exercise instructor, American Red Cross Instructor, ACE certified stretch specialist, and Nautilus training certified. I also teach Kinesiology classes here at URI and I have over 12 years experience in personal training, teaching group classes and managing staff. My personal philosophy is “If there is a will there is a way, so don’t stop trying”.

I am the Graduate Assistant for Fitness and Wellness Programs. I recently graduated from Rowan University with a B.A. in Health & Exercise Science: Health Promotion/Fitness Management and am going for an M.S. in Kinesiology. I am a Certified Personal Trainer as well as certified/trained in AFAA Primary Group Exercise, Kickboxing, Yoga, Pilates, and Zumba. Dance has been a major part of my life for eighteen years, and it has definitely helped me develop as an instructor. I look forward to spreading my passion for fitness, wellness and dance to URI. My goal as an instructor is to be sure that everyone leaves my classes smiling and inspired to achieve their goals inside and outside of the Rec!

Hi! I have been teaching group fitness for almost 5 years now and I love it. I believe that fitness is a very important aspect of everyone's life; it keeps us healthy, happy, and strong! Even in the midst of our busy schedules and lives, it is important to keep fitness a part of our days. I just graduated with a M.B.A degree in Speech-Language Pathology and use fitness as an outlet to keep my stress levels manageable!

Kathleen
I started teaching group fitness classes when I was in grad school and have not stopped because I love it so much! I have taught in the Boston area, in a small gym in NH, and in the Netherlands (in Dutch).

Lisa
This will be my fifth year teaching at URI. I will be teaching spin and hard bodies this semester. I love to work hard and bring a lot of energy to my classes. My goal is to have varied and exciting classes for the whole semester so each class is fun and new!

Jean
I am a senior nursing major and this is my third year with the aerobics staff. Come take my Body Blast class for a high energy workout that targets your muscles head to toe!

Amy
I have been teaching Zumba for almost two years and in my opinion; it is the most enjoyable exercise class that someone can experience. It has completely changed my life and how I view fitness. Zumba has made me a more confident, outgoing and an overall happy person.

Mary
I’m a senior dietetics major and this is my fourth year working at the gym. You might recognize me from the Fitness Center, but I am relatively new to group exercise. After having recently obtained my spin certification, I have brought my fresh knowledge and exciting teaching style to all my classes!

Jackie S.
I’m a junior Speech Pathology major. I am a new AFAA certified instructor, but I have always been a fitness fanatic. I’m passionate about targeting areas and fixing them. I always want to burn off that extra cookie!

Meredith
Hey Everyone! I just started teaching Zumba this past semester and absolutely love it. I know what people look for in a Zumba fitness class, and that’s a fun cardio filled workout. I want you guys to love working out and know that I can make that happen.
Julia G.
Hi! This is my first year teaching but I am enjoying getting to know everyone in my classes. I have been involved with fitness and have now already become nationally certified through AFAA, and this summer achieved certification in Turbokick. Come join my classes and be prepared to tone and sweat!

Sam
This is my first year teaching on the group exercise staff and I am so excited to get your hearts pumping in my Cardio Dance class! I am recently Zumba certified, which illustrates my passion for working up a sweat in a fun, carefree way. Be prepared to sweat and trim the body in my new dance classes.
Beth
I am a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200) and certified through Yoga Alliance. I enjoy teaching Vinyasa and Hatha yoga styles with emphasis on moving to the rhythm of the breath. I have a deep love and sense of gratitude for this practice and the possibilities it has brought to my life. I am honored to share opportunities for others to open their hearts, minds and bodies as I have through yoga.

I am a freshmen Nutrition and Dietetics Major. I am a group exercise assistant. My goal is to become nationally certified and eventually teach my own classes. I am passionate about living a healthy lifestyle and making smart choices when it comes to eating and exercise. Exercise and nutrition are an important part of my life and I want to share my passion with others.
Sami
Hello! My name is Samantha Musser, but I go by Sami. I am a junior majoring in marine biology. This past fall semester I spent studying abroad in Bermuda. I became a certified spin instructor this past summer after taking URI's spin classes for a year. Exercise plays a large part in my life with spin and swimming being my top two. Outside of college I help out with my family's charity that assists families who have kids with cancer. I also have a second job at Eastern Mountain Sports, and help out in my family's scuba shop. This is my first time assisting a spin class and I am thrilled to officially learn the ropes.
Morgan
I am a junior nursing major and this will be my first time assisting with a variety of group exercise classes. I have always had a sweet spot for spin but I am really interested to learn and work alongside many of the instructors this semester! I believe fitness is very important to leading both a healthy and happy lifestyle!

Hey everyone! I am a 3rd year pharmacy student at URI and new to the group exercise team. I have always believed that living a healthy lifestyle is the key to success both mentally and physically. My yoga practice has given me the tools to balance my everyday life with school and keeping active. I am so excited to assist yoga classes this semester in hopes of getting certified to teach.
