The Department of Recreational Services contributes to the academic mission of the University and enhances the quality of campus life by providing a student-centered environment and experiential opportunities which foster healthy, active lifestyles through involvement in and/or use of recreational facilities, programs and services. Supporting the values of student success, our program strives to promote integrity, responsibility and leadership skills while maintaining a balance between physical, emotional & social growth of individuals.

Our comprehensive program offerings include informal recreation, intramural sports, fitness and wellness, aquatics, club sports and sailing opportunities. Our professional staff is committed to expanding and developing quality programs, services and recreational facilities to meet the needs for all members of a diverse university community which will help engage students to inspire, develop and enjoy lifelong patterns of wellness and fitness activities.

  • The Mackal-Keaney-Tootell Complex will OPEN on Wednesday, September 8th on revised hours of 11:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m.  Normal facility hours will resume on Thursday, September 9th from 6:45 a.m. - 10:00 p.m.  Welcome Back!
  • Session 1 Learn to Swim registration begins Wednesday, August 11th on-line for members.  In-person member registration begins Thursday, September 9th during facility hours and Open Registration is Saturday, September 11th from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. in Mackal lobby. 

  • Weekend Sport Events
    None

  • URI Sailing Team
    Check the status of the URI Sailing team as they compete in the 2009 Student Yachting World Cup in Marseille, France.
