"Every organization wants to boost its morale, its productivity, and ultimately, its bottom line."
In today's business climate, organizations have little choice but to evolve innovatively, to accomplish more with fewer resources. Success in the modern workplace is often a result of clear communication, trust, and collaborative approaches to problem solving.
What's the most effective way to acquire the necessary personnel tools to become a more competitive, more successful, and more productive organization?
Begin by developing the teamwork skills, behaviors, and abilities of the individuals and groups in your organization.
Whispering Pines' Executive Action Program at the University of Rhode Island’s W. Alton Jones Campus is a unique solution for developing teambuilding values in your organization. Our wooded location is the perfect setting for a distraction free day of team building. Tucked away in the serene woods of West Greenwich, Rhode Island, the W. Alton Jones Campus and its Whispering Pines Conference Center are surrounded by 2,300 acres of pristine ponds, tall trees, and fertile fields. Our lodges and guest houses, built in the architectural style of the “Great Camps,” provide quiet charm and modern amenities to allow your group to focus on its educational mission – to learn about teamwork.
What is team building, and how can it help my organization?
Nearly every organization can identify “obstacles” to its success. Promoting teamwork and team building within an organization is a proven approach to improving your employee’s performance and increasing your organization’s productivity.
The goals of many team building programs are:
- to establish and/or build trust among participants
- to open up and/or improve lines of communication
- to break down barriers and resolve conflicts
- to explore and improve the group's problem-solving process
- to foster a spirit of togetherness
- to encourage people to move forward toward a common agenda
By working together in a manner that is experiential, fun and challenging, colleagues learn more about themselves and each other. Strong relationships among group members helps to create a stronger team.
The needs of various organizations vary from group to group, as do the programs that we offer our clients. No two programs are exactly alike, because no two organizations are exactly alike. Our approach to planning your teambuilding program is simple. We first perform a “needs assessment” with you to determine your goals; then we design an Executive Action Program to meet them and ensure long term retention.
What does the Whispering Pines Executive Action Program involve?
Your custom teambuilding regimen, or Executive Action Program, is led by our diverse team of highly skilled facilitators, who are experienced in team building, adventure programming and organizational development.
As professional consultants affiliated with the University of Rhode Island , our staff of facilitators helps create a safe, supportive, trusting atmosphere in which participants explore such issues as:
- Leadership
- Diversity
- Interactive communication
- Innovation and creative problem solving
- How to take the team back home
At Whispering Pines, our team building exercises are guided by a “challenge by choice” philosophy. Your program activities are usually conducted outdoors and follow a similar pattern. The group is provided with challenges that require the participation of all members in order to complete. Every participant, though encouraged to take part in all of the potentially difficult challenges, has the option of playing a lesser role in such activities that the individual may deem to be too physically demanding or otherwise uncomfortable. But not all of our exercises are physical in nature. Many require the use of your mind and imagination. Others can be downright silly. In the end, they are designed to focus on:
- Goals
- Roles
- Processes
- Interactions
There is so much to experience at Whispering Pines, which is why we encourage organizations to be our guests, not for just one day but for a number of days. One-day programs can be designed, if our customers so choose, but keep in mind that the more you put into the Executive Action Program, the more you and your team will get out of it.
