How to check the status of your application!

Creating a username, URI ID, and password

You can expect to receive an admission decision by the end of March. However, please continue to check your status online (you will be able to do this after you receive instructions in the mail).
  1. From the URI homepage (www.uri.edu), click on “e-Campus” in the lower right hand corner of the homepage. This will bring you to a screen from which you will select the first menu option on the left – “New Users Register Here!”
  2. Fill in your name (first and last in appropriate boxes) and your URI ID. If you do not know your URI ID, it is printed on the first page of the letter you received about receiving your application. Then click “Continue.”
  3. The next screen asks you to pick a User ID and Password. These are the items you will need to log on to the e-Campus system. Select a User ID and Password that you will remember. As you create them, write them down! Both must be 5-15 characters long and both must be lower case letters a-z and/or the digits 0-9. This is the address e-Campus will use to mail you your question should you forget your password.
  4. The system will return a page confirming your new User ID registered in e-Campus as well as your nine-digit URI ID number. Print this screen for your records. Save this sheet in a secure place. Your user ID and Password are all you need to log on to e-Campus from now on.
  5. Once you have created an e-Campus ID and Password, you're ready to check the status of your application.

Checking the status of your application
  1. From the URI homepage, click on “e-Campus in the lower right hand corner of the page.  From here, select the "Students" link and the "Logon to Student Administration" button. Enter your user ID and password to access the "Self-Service" feature.
  2. Although there will be a variety of information to you in the center of this page, information pertaining to the status of your application is located under "Self-Service" on the left side of your screen.
  3. Select "Self-Service" - "Student Admission" - "Application Status"
  4. Check back frequently for updates on the status of your application!

Changing Majors Once You Are Enrolled at URI

Due to limited space, entrance requirements and/or and amount of interest in certain majors, you may be offered admission to URI but not to your first choice major. What does this mean for you?  Can you switch majors once you are enrolled at URI?  For the vast majority of majors, the answer to this question is a resounding “yes!”

You will receive guidance and support through University College, our academic advising college here at URI, and you will learn about the requirements for different majors.  You may have to enroll in specific courses and earn a minimum grade point average in those courses in order to switch to the major you desire, but many, many URI students successfully change majors (sometimes multiple times!).

Several majors (Pharmacy, Nursing, and Kinesiology) do have much more limited access, so switching into one of these majors is highly unlikely.  If you are interested in a career in the pharmaceutical industry, we encourage you to explore the variety of careers that are open in that field through other majors – our Pharmaceutical Track in our Chemical Engineering major is a particularly popular alternative to our Pharm.D. program.

We also offer a wide variety of other health and life science majors (i.e. Nutrition and Dietetics, Biomedical Engineering, Biological Sciences, Chemistry, and Microbiology to name a few) that may appeal to students who are not admitted to their first choice major selection. of Pharmacy, Nursing, or Kinesiology.

Changing Your Major Prior to Enrollment

If you already have been admitted or you still are in the application process and would like change your intended major, please fax (401-874-5523) the Admission Office the following information:

  • Name
  • Date of Birth
  • URI ID Number
  • Name of the major for which you would like to be considered

If we have not yet issued a decision on your initial application, you will learn of our decision regarding your intended major in your acceptance letter.
If you already have been offered admission, we will notify you by email regarding your request for a change of major.
